Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Natsuko Nakamura, operating as Cook with Natsuko, collects, uses, and protects your personal information. We handle all personal data in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and collect only what is necessary to run our classes well.
Personal Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you submit a class booking request:
- Full name
- Email address
- Number of guests
- Dietary requirements or restrictions (optional)
- Additional notes (optional)
- Class date and class name (pre-filled from your selection)
We do not collect payment card details directly. Payment processing is handled by Square Inc., a PCI-compliant third-party provider. Card details are collected and stored solely by Square under their separate Privacy Policy.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16.
Purpose of Use
Your personal information is used solely for the following purposes (APPI Article 17):
- Processing and confirming your class reservation
- Communicating with you about your booking — confirmation, reminders, and any changes or cancellations
- Accommodating dietary requirements and other needs during the class
- Responding to enquiries sent to us by email
- Maintaining accurate booking and attendance records
We do not use your information for direct marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond the above without your separate, explicit consent.
Legal Basis
We collect and process your personal information on the basis that it is necessary to fulfil the contract you enter into when making a booking. Where optional information is provided, such as dietary notes, processing is based on your consent in voluntarily supplying it.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy and security standards.
Google LLC
Booking form submissions are transmitted to and stored via Google Apps Script and Google Sheets, services operated by Google LLC. Google may process this data on servers outside Japan. Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and maintains appropriate safeguards for international data transfers. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Google Fonts
This website loads typefaces from Google Fonts, a service operated by Google LLC. When your browser requests a font file, Google's servers may log your IP address. No cookie is set by this service on our behalf, and we do not receive any data from these requests. See Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Data Retention
We retain booking records for a period of three years from the date of the class, which is necessary to fulfil our legal obligations and respond to any queries about past reservations. Information held in Google Sheets is accessible only to the school operator. Records are deleted when no longer required for the stated purposes.
If you request deletion of your data before that period has elapsed, we will delete or anonymise records to the extent that doing so does not conflict with a legal obligation to retain them.
Your Rights Under APPI
Under Japan's APPI, you have the right to:
- Disclosure — request to know what personal information we hold about you (Article 33)
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate information (Article 34)
- Deletion — request deletion of your information where retention is no longer necessary (Article 35)
- Suspension of use — request that we stop using or providing your information (Article 37)
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Booking data is stored in a private Google Sheet that is not publicly accessible. Communications between your browser and Google's servers are encrypted via HTTPS.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Cookies
This website does not set any tracking or analytics cookies. The Google Fonts service may set cookies in accordance with Google's own policies; we have no control over or access to those cookies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The current version is always available at this page. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without providing reasonable notice. Continued use of our booking service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
